Our minimum booking is three hours. That suits a Shoreline or trunk apartment well; a frond villa needs considerably more, and we would rather tell you that when you ask than run out of time on the day. Give us the building or the frond and the bedroom count and we will give you an honest number.

Two or three visits a week is the most common pattern with our Palm customers. For a villa it is usually the more sensible way round: shorter visits more often keeps a big house even, where one long visit a week means it is spotless on Monday and gone by Thursday.

Washing and ironing can be part of the same visit — washed, ironed, folded and put away. Tell us how you like it done and the same maid will do it that way every time.

For regular bookings you get the same maid every visit. On the Palm that is worth more than usual: access varies from frond to frond and building to building, and somebody who already knows the way in is not spending your first twenty minutes at a gate.

We are careful about who we send into your home. Our part-time maids are Filipino ladies, each with a minimum of five years working as domestic staff in the Middle East, and every Filipino maid we hire goes through a thorough vetting process before she joins us. We check that she genuinely knows how to clean properly and how to handle the equipment, that her English is good enough to understand what you ask for and tell you what she has done, and that she is someone you will be glad to have in your home every week.

Every cleaner who comes to you is employed directly by Lavender Housecare, with a valid Emirates ID and residence visa. We do not subcontract. It is why our staff get through building security without a problem, and why we can promise you the same person every visit.

We do take same-day bookings when we can. We are often quite busy, so it depends on your area and who is free, but it costs nothing to ask — message us and we will tell you straight away whether we can get somebody to you today.

The Palm covers two quite different kinds of home. The frond villas are large, usually four or five bedrooms with a garden and private beach access, and they need a proper block of hours to do well. The apartments along the trunk and the Shoreline are closer to a standard tower job, though generally bigger than their equivalents elsewhere in Dubai.

Being on the water changes the work in one specific way: salt. Glass, balcony railings and sliding-door tracks pick up a film here that inland apartments never get, and it comes back faster. It is the single thing Palm customers most often ask us to keep on top of.
